Design Brief

 ITRS is a brand leader in developing, distributing and supporting specialist software and management systems for the financial markets.

The London office serves as their European headquarters, a working office and a meeting place where professionals and leading authorities gather to share the latest research into the future of financial technologies.

In 2014, ITRS underwent rapid expansion, this coupled with a strategic rebranding exercise instigated a move to the newly renovated Bonhill Building in Shoreditch, the heart of London’s creative tech district.

Through design workshops and department focus groups, Oktra found that ITRS’ main desire was to create a pioneering studio office that encourages connectivity and collaboration; projecting their expert and advisory brand to staff and visitors alike.

Solution

Agile working is introduced through a series of open plan clusters with an array of plug-in-and-play rooms for high-attention tasks, such as programming; research and development. While optimising space efficiency, this also gives staff control over their workspace, allowing them to choose the best space to complete their daily tasks.

Exposed ceilings, suspended lights and a predominantly white palette helps create a neutral workspace while drawing attention to the vibrant communal areas in the entrance and breakout zones.

The glass fronted cellular meeting spaces provide transparency and promote communication and teamwork. By placing these spaces central to the floor-plate, it increases access to natural light with a spectacular panoramic view of the surrounding city.

Self-contained meeting pods supported by enhanced AV systems are dotted around the space, offering flexible and personable presentation areas with a global reach. With two spacious roof terraces, Oktra have added a spark of individuality with season-proof pods. These pine and glass ‘bubbles’ have wifi accessibility, allowing staff to work together or alone; inside and out.
